The EMI calculator takes an amount, a rate and a tenure and returns the instalment, the total interest, the closing month and the schedule year by year or month by month. There are no ceilings on the amount or the rate: a lakh at 0.5% and a hundred crore at 42% are both real loans.
It reads either way round — give it the tenure and it finds the instalment, or give it what you can afford each month and it finds the tenure. It handles fixed rates, floating rates (as a list of changes, with the choice of moving the tenure or re-fixing the instalment), and flat rates, where it shows the reducing-balance rate that charges the same instalment: 8.5% flat is about 12.3% reducing.
The compounding calculator takes a starting amount, a rate and a clock — daily, weekly, fortnightly, monthly, the 22-day trading month, quarterly, half-yearly or yearly — and whatever you add along the way, on any interval and for any number of payments. The rate can be read as per period or per year, and the effective annual rate is shown either way.
